# No Seatbelt Challan in India — Fine, Law & How to Pay
India's Motor Vehicles Act mandates seatbelt use for all occupants of a four-wheeler — driver and all passengers, front and rear. Violators face a fine of ₹1,000.
Who Must Wear a Seatbelt
- The driver (always)
- Front-seat passenger (always)
- All rear passengers (mandatory since 2023 enforcement push)
Pregnant women and people with medical conditions may be exempt with a doctor's certificate.

Fine Amount
