How to Book Your RTO Appointment Online (2025)
Walking into an RTO without a prior appointment is the single biggest time-waster in the licence process. Slots fill up 3–4 weeks in advance at busy RTOs. Book online and save an entire day.
What You Can Book Online via Parivahan
- Learner's Licence (LL) test slot
- Permanent Driving Licence (DL) test slot
- DL renewal appointment
- Address/name change on DL
- Addition of vehicle class
- Duplicate DL application
Step-by-Step: Booking a Learner's Licence Slot
Step 1: Go to the official portal
Visit parivahan.gov.in → Driving Licence Related Services → Select your state
Step 2: Start a new LL application
Click Apply for Learner Licence → Enter your Aadhaar number for KYC verification → Complete the OTP step
Step 3: Fill Application Form 1
- Personal details (name, DOB, address exactly as on Aadhaar)
- Vehicle category (LMV-NT, MCWG, or both)
- Medical fitness declaration (Form 1A — you can self-declare online)
Step 4: Upload documents

Step 5: Pay fee online
Fee varies by state and vehicle category — typically ₹200–400. Accepted: debit/credit card, UPI, net banking.
Step 6: Select your RTO and slot
- Choose your nearest RTO from the dropdown
- See available dates and time slots
- Slots are typically in 30-minute windows (9:00 AM, 9:30 AM, etc.)
- Book at least 3–4 weeks ahead for busy RTOs (Koramangala, Andheri, Rohini)
- Smaller city/town RTOs often have slots within 1–2 weeks
Step 7: Download acknowledgement
Print or save the acknowledgement receipt. Bring it on test day along with original documents.
Step-by-Step: Booking a Permanent DL Slot
You can book this only after holding LL for 30+ days.
1. Login to parivahan.gov.in with your LL application number
2. Go to Apply for Driving Licence
3. Upload your LL (or it auto-populates if applied online)
4. Pay DL fee (₹500–800 depending on state and class)
5. Select DL test slot at your RTO
6. Download appointment slip
What to Carry on Test Day
For LL test:- Printout of online application acknowledgement
- Original Aadhaar card
- Age proof original (if different from Aadhaar)
- Passport photos (2–4, depending on RTO)
- Do NOT bring unnecessary papers — it just creates confusion at the counter
- Original LL (not a copy)
- Application acknowledgement
- Aadhaar card
- Payment receipt
State-Specific Notes
If Slots Are Not Available
- Check at 8:00 AM — new slots are often released daily
- Try adjacent RTOs (e.g., if Koramangala is full, try Rajajinagar or Yeshwanthpur)
- Try weekday slots — weekends fill first
- Cancellations open slots — check 2–3 days before your preferred date
