# Driving Without Licence Challan — ₹5,000 Fine India 2025
Driving without a valid driving licence is a ₹5,000 fine under Section 181 of the MV Act 2019. This applies whether you never had a licence, your licence has expired, or you are driving a vehicle category your licence doesn't cover.
Types of "Driving Without Licence" Offences
1. No licence at all — Never obtained a DL
2. Expired DL — Licence validity lapsed (must be renewed within 30 days of expiry)
3. Wrong vehicle class — e.g., driving a car (LMV) when your DL only covers a two-wheeler
4. Minor driving — Person under 18 driving any motor vehicle
5. Learner licence offence — Driving without L-board, driving on a highway, or driving without a licensed driver in the passenger seat
